Cinco de Mayo Fiesta

Cinco de Mayo is celebrated because in 1862 Mexico won the victory on the Battle of Puebla during the Franco-Mexican War. Although we live in the United States, many of us are hispanic, and we celebrate our hispanic heritage commemorating this day usually with a Mexican- themed party. 

Ladies, this is the perfect opportunity to dress up and party it up with your friends, plus, margaritas are always a must at Cinco de Mayo parties.

For this occasion, instead of wearing the long, fluffy, and colorful skirts we often see women wearing, these ladies opted for this comfortable, casual and yet beautiful look.

Jeans, and a blouse that is typical from the southern states of Mexico.

For the make up they all are wearing bright colors on the lips, and of course, colors that match with their skin-tone and their shirts.

This is a very simple outfit, the hard part is finding a shirt that will go according. These specific shirts were bought in Matamoros, a small city just across the border from Brownsville, but I have also seen them on sale at Brownsville's down-town stores. I think that if you look for them in advance it should not be that hard to find one. The point is that you look pretty, and of course, have fun!

Dress Up, and Show Up!

My friend Gaby is always known for wearing the most beautiful high-heels, no matter where she goes. She always says that the right pair of shoes can always make your outfit look bomb or totally bring it down if you are not wearing the correct pair of shoes. Gaby is a beautiful young lady, and her outfit is just fabulous. The most important piece of clothing in her outfit is the skirt. Since the skirt has a pattern of roses, she opted to wear just a black cropped top and black heels. 

If you look at Gaby's outfit pice by pice, everything is very pretty, but when you look at everything together as an outfit, it is great!

For the hair she wore a low-ponytail with curls, and her makeup is really light, with just a lipstick that matches the color of the skirt. As I always say, it is really good to dress up in a cute outfit, but what matters the most is that you are really feeling it; that way you can sparkle along with your clothes! 

Girls that Smile are the Prettiest

This outfit was worn for a party during the day. We all see these kind of bright colors during the spring and the summer, and that is because it is the perfect season to look happy!

This lovely lady is wearing a yellow short cocktail-dress with a beige embroidery design on the front.

The dress has long sleeves but since they are made out of chiffon the dress is really comfortable and fresh. Everybody would just go ahead and wear nude shoes, but I really loved that she was bold enough to put on a pair of colorful shoes as well. The kind of shoes that she is wearing are very trendy right now, plus they have some beautiful, bright colors in them. 

Her makeup is just on point; she is not wearing any heavy eyeshadow on the eyes, just a beige color with cat-eyeliner, but on the lips she is wearing a bright color so her face can look balanced and of course, a big smile so the whole outfit can sparkle! 

Brunch Attire

 This past Friday my friends and I assisted to a women's empowerment brunch at Cimarron Country Club. All the ladies were dressed really pretty, all wearing dresses and high heels. I really liked what Marivel, was wearing because it is simple, and elegant. 

She choose to wear a skin tight dress, but with long sleeves and just the length appropriate for the event. This color we see it in all the seasons, it is a very neutral color that can be worn during the holidays, spring, or summer and of course you accessorize it according to the occasion. 

Marivel opted to wear nude high heels; they make all the attention go to the dress. Since she has short hair, which by the way is also a trend this spring, it makes the whole outfit seem very nice since it gives her a fresher look. The last part of her outfit is the cross-body purse that she is wearing, we always need to carry a purse to hold our stuff, but for these kind of occasions cross-body purses go perfectly according. 

Business Casual

This past week I went to a three-day conference in New Orleans, Louisiana. The second day I wore this outfit for lunch, where we had to go dressed business casual. You know how I'm always talking about balancing the outfit; as you can see in the picture, I wore floral printed pants and black shirt. I know that the palazzo pants I am wearing may seem a little too flowery, but since everybody at the conference were college students, I decided I wanted to look young and just to be rebel not wear black pants.

Since it was during the day, my make-up was light, just with "cat-eye" eyeliner, pink lipstick and loose waves on my hair. 

I really liked this outfit because it does not look boring at all, it has spirit, and it is already spring so it is fine to wear floral prints. I know I have seen several styles similar to this one, and the floral printed palazzo pants are now on sale everywhere you go, so you will not have trouble finding them. 

Special Occasion

Sometimes they invite us to a quinceañera or to a wedding and most of the times we do not know what to wear, specially because we are not direct family with the person/s being celebrated. We all know that family members go out of their way and buy expensive dresses with rhyme stones and glamorous arrangements and they pay a hair stylist to do their hair and make up.
The dress Edna, my aunt, is wearing is perfect for these kind of occasions; the long dress looks formal, but the print on the fabric gives it a more relaxed touch. Details on this dress like the neckline, the show of the right leg caused by the split of the dress and the back opening makes this outfit look sexy. Open-toe heels in color black, as well as the necklace and earrings, because there is already too much going on with the dress and the floral print. Make up for the night; with smokey eye and bright pink lipstick, and tied up hair so the make-up and accessories can stand out.

Here I am wearing a similar dress: long-sleeve and with a busy print pattern on the fabric. Long earrings, and a ring for accessories. Normal straightened hair and smokey- eye, but nude lipstick.
My brother, is just wearing formal pants and dressy shirt, but he did not wear a blazer because he  wanted to look a little more casual as well. 

Ready for Spring

It is March and spring is around the corner! Although, in the Valley most of the times the temperatures are hot. This outfit is semi-casual because of course there is a little glam added to it!

Edna, the model, is wearing a beautiful fuchsia long-sleeve top but she is showing a little bit of belly. This adds the feel that it is almost spring and colors like this one show the spirit of it. Ripped-blue jeans just to add a little of sparkle and youth to the outfit. High heels, and belt of the same color and let's not forget about the three-layer necklace she is wearing that go according to the neckline of the blouse, because of course accessories matter a lot! 

You could wear this outfit to go to a restaurant to spend a good time with family or friends. Since this outfit is to wear during the day-time you could also of course wear flats instead of heels, whatever makes you feel more comfortable, but remember that the color of the shoes and belt need to match, that is key!

Night Out

Many of us girls stress out when they invite us to a night club because we start thinking of what to wear. 

I really like this outfit that one of my friends is wearing because it is simple, yet it has lots of color and it is very comfortable to dance with. 

Her top has bright colors and she is wearing a necklace that goes with them. 

The black skirt is just a must because the outfit as a whole has to look balanced. Since there is already too much going on with her blouse and her necklace, the black skirt is just the perfect complement.

Black opened-toe wedges, which by the way, are very comfortable to be up in her feet all night.

Simple straightened hair, with natural make up on the eyes and red on the lips. 

If you are having a party, or going to a night club this could be the perfect outfit to wear because you do not have to stress too much about wearing a dress that is very tight to your body and then by halftime at the club you will start feeling uncomfortable. The loose and stamped shirts can always make you look skinnier.

Valentines Dinner

Valentines weekend is here and although you may have different plans you can wear this outfit to a dinner date or to a club. This red short dress is very beautiful and the different sleeves make it unique. 

We decided to go with gold accessories because gold goes almost with everything. Gold shoes, gold necklace and earrings and a watch. 

Since the dress details are on the shoulders, we decided that the hair should be lifted up in a fancy and pretty bun so the important parts of the dress can show. For the make up: Red lipstick of course! because well... it's Valentines, and since it is a bold color for the lips, the eyes should look more natural (she is only using a winged eyeliner and mascara) just so the  whole make up does not seem heavy on her face. 

It is a matter of balance, from the accessories to the make up. She is wearing a necklace that is kind of big, so the earrings are really small, and the watch is the same color just to match the other accessories. Hope you like this outfit, and get some inspiration to look beautiful for Valentines day!

Red is the Month's Color!

Valentine's Day is coming up and whether you have a Valentines date or not it is a beautiful holiday to dress and glam up! 

All you see everywhere during the month of February is the color red surrounding every store's hallways, and if you do not have a date this may probably cause you distress. But let's not go there and stop a moment to think about the season's color! 

The color red is a trendy and beautiful color to wear, either on clothes or on your lips. If you do not have a significant other you can just dress up for fun and have a friend's night out. Last year we held a Valentines Day Party and it was just amazing! 

Either if you decide to go out or not you should just celebrate the month's fashionable spirit and dress in red.

February is mostly about love but remember that it is also about women's cancer awareness.

My Fashion Mecca

Fashion is something we see daily, we follow trends all the time; they vary from what we wear to how we do our make up and hair. 

This space is mainly to review what clothing designers and other fashionistas have brought to us.

As I am not an expert, I can review and post about what I like about these trends and what I think you guys will like as well. Naturally, all women are beautiful but we can always improve our appearance for special occasions or just for whenever we want to look prettier and I hope we can all learn together about some beauty tips.
